Visiting the SU art Gallery
Today I went and visited the SU art gallery where I got a great opportunity to view the work of students. But this is not the work of just normal students who put stuff up, but seniors and this is the best they have done. It is there thesis in art form of sorts.
Now every time I go to an art exhibition anywhere, there is always some pieces which I like, and there are those which for some reason or another just do not catch my interest. This exhibition is no different, there were pieces which I really liked, and some which I was just like meh...
I will start of with the pieces which I was more like, ehh not so great, or maybe it is, it is just i don't particularity like it. For instance the giant connect for, while it is entertaining in its own right, i really just didn't quite get it. I read through the artists bio, and what they had to say about the piece, and it still really did not make a whole lot of sense to me, so I just moved on. Then there was the Frank the Entertainer piece. While yes, i found it extremely amusing, especially when my sister, who is also a college student and was obsessed with the TV show Frank the Entertainer found out that I knew annie, the whole reasoning behind it just seemed to cliche to me. I get that girls go on these shows and put on this act, and I understand why she would try to emulate it, and so one, but I just don't quite consider it art. But that is just me.
Now there were a couple things which I really liked, one in particular, and I will get to it after, the first was a video game, as someone who does a lot of digital work, i have great respect for anyone who can make a video game because I know how much work it takes. I also just kinda had fun with it, i enjoyed the interactive art. I also enjoyed this one installment which was essentially like a pile of stuff, which you could go into. I'm not entirely certain what it was about it that I really liked, i just liked it. But the once piece which for some reason really grabbed me, was one of the more simple ones. It was a photograph of this house, and the house is really run down. But what makes it so interesting is all of the land around it has been torn up, so it is like it is sitting on its own little island. Im not completely certain why it caught me, but I found that I stood there staring at it for a good 15 minutes.
None of the works are really comparable so in that sense I can't say what they make me think of. But I guess, like I said my favorite piece was that photograph, it made me think of peacefulness. The idea of just floating out there alone, it was just very calming, this is not to say i hate society and don't like being around people, because it is quite the opposite because I love human interaction in every form. But every now and again, just being alone is nice, and that is what it made me think of.
Overall I am glad I got to see this, honestly I probably would not have gone otherwise, but I am happy that I did, i got to see interesting work, be it a giant connect for or a giant pile of stuff. It was just all very interesting.

Final
As I had spoken about, My final at this point is going to be the "video Chatting with Myself" project, where I will make it seem as though I am video chatting with 2 other versions of myself, while trying to have some sort of a band practice. I will record three speerate videos, and sync them up on Final Cut.
Blog "catch up"
So I have kind of forgotten to do this in a while, so this is a feeble attempt to catch up on what I have missed, so here is two classes in a nutshell. 2 weeks ago our class was pretty much taken up the entire time by visiting artists. These artists were performance artists who would make not necessarily conservative art, and not for the sake of monetary value. I personally enjoyed the part when they dug a hole in the city.
Last week was a little slow for me, we spent most of the time working on our animations for this week, and I had essentially finished mine. But I continued to try and do some work on it, and began to further develop the idea for my final. At the end of class, I worked with Gokey on Final Cut, for my final exam.

Final Project Ideas
For the final project I have pretty much been torn between to focuses.
The first of which involves trying the circuit bending project again, only this time
I would go about it on a much more elaborate scale, aka trying to bend the Nintendo or something else along the same line.
The second project involves film and music. I have not quite worked out exactly what I am doing, but it would involve a conversation with myself, while performing with myself. It could be entertaining if I could pull it off, atleast the idea I have in my head.
Those are my basic ideas for a final project, and I not sure how it will ultimately pan out, but for now that is where I stand.

3/3/10
- Today in class we began with watching a few videos on the blog. After that we watched the remainder of the poems, and critiqued the, seeing as that we were unable to finish them last week. We are now going to begin the process of turning speakers in to microphones somehow. Should be interesting. We also spoke about the final project, and how we are going to go about it.

Wednesday the 17th
Today in class we brought out the toys we got, those of us who had them at least, and I got to see gokey play with the guitar i brought in. We later watched all of the Borrowing my frienemies arrows projects. Then learned how to use the high speed camera. That is about all we did in class.
